Bladder cancer and its signs and symptoms

Every year, almost half a million people worldwide are diagnosed with bladder cancer. Early diagnosis is key to preventing the cancer from spreading, so it is important to recognise the potential early symptoms. The most common symptom of bladder cancer is blood in the urine. Other symptoms include abdominal pain, lower back pain and bladder irritation. If you spot blood in your urine, which includes seeing a red or brown colour, it is recommended that you visit your doctor.
